The Basics of Bathroom Fixtures

Nothing is more enjoyable than soothing your aching muscles in a bath tub overflowing with hot water, while listening to relaxing music. Your favorite book is in your hand and the scent of the lavender infused bubbles fill the air. Yes, this sounds like a treat that everyone deserves to have. Bathrooms are not just a place to wash up quickly because you are late for work, or just a place to conduct your morning and nightly routines, it is a place of tranquility. It is a sanctuary in which you can neglect the hardships of the world. That is why the bathroom fixtures you choose are so essential. It must reflect you and your idea of a sanctuary.

One of the most central bathroom fixtures is the lighting. The first thing that probably pops into your mind is the original wall-mounted rectangular mirror that is usually above a vanity, with big bulbs that light up and circles around, producing that vintage Hollywood look. But the 1950s are over my friend and this is the modern world. Now lighting is available in different varieties and styles for the modern bath and for the modern person.

Lighting is not only important for how it suits your refuge, but it also depends on the size of your bathroom. If your bathroom is quite large then several light fixtures may be necessary to avoid dim lighting. Smaller bathrooms do not require as many. Some prefer dim lighting, but they should keep that in mind when they have to shave or would like to read a book. The style of the fixture should be taken into consideration also. Depending on the style of the light fixture, you can make your space either look bigger or smaller. Sometimes that can be a plus, but other times it may not be, especially for smaller bathrooms. By getting a really big lighting fixture, you will make your small space seem even more cramped, which is not so appealing to your guests and even yourself.

Another basic bathroom fixture is the faucet. Just like lights, it too has different styles that range from traditional to contemporary, a bunch that can satisfy your bathroom décor taste buds. It is very crucial along with the toilet and the shower. All these fixtures not only add flare to your bathroom, but can also save water and prevent damages. Think about it, style is usually the number one factor on our list, but if a certain faucet, toilet, or shower fixture does not save water and will most likely wear out easily, then what is the purpose of buying those fixtures.

You need to try finding bathroom fixtures that are a “win-win” scenario, something with both style and strength. You have to balance the two if you care about the outward appearance of your bathroom fixtures, but if not, make sure that they save energy and are tough enough to avoid any meddling plumbing problems. Once you have picked your fixtures to your liking, you can enter into your sanctuary and shut the world out with some headphones and classical music.
